Our Approach
Our Approach
We at 'The Cottonist' are focused to create an indulgence in the natural comforts of cotton fabric.
We make womenswear that focuses on ethical and sustainable production of classy, timeless, and breathable clothing for any season. We choose to work exclusively with natural fabrics for many reasons but primarily for comfort, quality, and the environment. We are a small business with a big conscience. We are concerned about the environmental impact - we want our products to be biodegradable when our fabric reaches the end of its life cycle. Most of our products are organic and carefully sourced, skillfully designed and made in small batches in Jaipur, India.
To cut out plastic from production and make use of fabric off-cuts, we started packing the sleepwear in matching cotton bags to protect it during shipping.
In order to minimise deadstock, we don’t sell or replace pieces individually (e.g., shorts or trousers without the shirt) as it would mean a lot of stock that can not be used as sets.
We work closely with our suppliers, ensuring our standards and commitment to a fair deal are met at all times. We ensure our artisans work in safe conditions and are paid well for the services.
Care Tips
Care Tips
Product Care
We at the Cottonist believe that a little extra care can go a long way.
We want you to wear our products without having to worry about washing them, so we've made it easy to clean and look after.
Our cottonwear is made from the soft, Indian cotton which makes them very comfortable loungewear and sleepwear. As it's a natural fabric, it will need a little extra care but will still wear over time — through no fault of the fabric or garments. You'll find it with any garment, but it can seem sped up when they’re worn so much.
To keep it looking lovelier for longer:
Over time, our cotton will soften and the colour will slightly fade. This is entirely expected with a natural fabric and we believe it makes them even more comfortable to wear.
